Four sheets, in your own words: why you are doing this, what your warning signs actually look like, who you can call, and what to do in the next twenty minutes when it lands. There is no form to complete and no minimum length. Three true lines beat a page of what you think you are supposed to say.
Keep it where you will have it
The plan sits on your phone, one screen from open. It is not behind an account, a sign-in, or a network connection, because the hour you need it is not the hour to discover you are logged out.
Read it, do not re-decide
At 2am the plan is a reading exercise, not a thinking one. The next right action is already chosen, the name to call is already chosen, and the first sentence to say is already written down. You are following instructions you left for yourself.
Change it in daylight
A plan that never changes stops being true. After a hard night, when you are steady again, you edit the sheets: a sign you had not named, a person who was actually reachable, an action that turned out to work. The revision is the practice.
Nothing is sent for you
North Star does not message, alert, or escalate to anyone on your behalf — not a sponsor, not a clinician, not a service. Every call is one you place yourself, and nothing you wrote leaves the device unless you export it and send it.
Beside the counter, not instead of it
If you are counting days, Day One — No. 01 in the same register — holds the number. North Star holds the structure around it. They are separate programs and neither needs the other; take whichever one answers the harder problem.
What this is not
It is not treatment, not medical advice, and not a substitute for the people treating you. It does not interpret symptoms or touch your medication. If tonight is an emergency rather than a hard night, 988 answers at any hour and 911 is the right call when someone may be in danger. The notes go further into the thinking.
